This is not TRUE. According to PAG-ASA, anyone cannot predict when will the earthquake occur. Hindi matutukoy kung sinuman o ano paman kung saan tatama ang earthquake. PAG-ASA can only predict if there are signs dun sa mga fault line at doon na nila masasabi na may earthquake nga. Pero hindi din mapredict agad-agad ang lakas ng lindol kung hindi pa ito nagaganap, diba... but, we should pray also na walang magaganap na ganito kalakas... ngisi

    News for today...

Duterte will ask rebels to stop harassing traders

MAYOR RODRIGO Duterte will ask the leadership of the New People’s Army (NPA) to stop harassing businesses in the city.
In a consultation with members of the business sector, Duterte admitted the rebels have intensified their activities in relation to its revolutionary tax activities to get more funds for their operations.
However, the mayor said he could not discuss with the rebels, particularly the Pulang Bagani Command 1 under Leoncio Pitao alias Kumander Parago. The mayor used to meet Parago.
“I can’t talk to them about policies. I have to go up to the Commission in Mindanao – their pulit-buro,” he said. But Duterte said his efforts could only reach a certain level because it is a nationwide concern which the national government must address.
He said the activities of the NPA and those of other groups are beyond his control. Had they been criminals, he could “eradicate them in 24 hours,” he said, although he added there are rules to be followed
“The NPAs, I can’t control them including terrorists. I can’t solve it myself. I can only take care of the criminals,” he added.
Duterte said the government could not also harm the members of the rebel movement who are in the legal fronts or those in the “white area.” He said doing this would change the equation and would make the city once again as a killing field.
Simeon Marfori II, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry president, said the business sector is grateful that the city government has been pushing for the peace and order situation to be maintained. He said because of this they were able to thrive well in the city.
Marfori said they are willing to cooperate with Duterte in keeping the good climate of the city especially with the recent attacks of NPA which could greatly affect the city’s image.
He said investors will most likely shy away in investing here if a lot of security and peace and order problems are being disseminated.
The recent attack of the group was last Wednesday night in Tigatto, Buhangin District where the member’s of Parago’s group burned four heavy dump trucks and two heavy equipment owned by Lapanday Development Corporation. The report of the military said the 15-men group also strafed the hangar of the company.

Filipinos satisfied with GMA's programs, survey shows

Filipinos appeared generally satisfied with most of President Arroyo’s programs, although they don’t like or trust her.

This is the result of a nationwide Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez, who chairs the House oversight committee.

The survey was conducted last July 13-17 and had 1,200 respondents.

“I can’t understand it. Our people are satisfied with her programs, but she remains highly unpopular with them,” Suarez, a staunch ally of Mrs. Arroyo and one of her favorite companions among congressmen in her trips abroad, said.

When asked why, in his view, the President is unpopular, he said, “It’s the media. The rated programs have been hitting her, and she has been getting a bad press.”

The President has been receiving negative trust and satisfaction ratings in SWS and Pulse Asia surveys.

Last month’s Suarez-commissioned survey showed that two in three Filipinos, or 67 percent, were dissatisfied with her, while only 17 percent were satisfied.— Jess Diaz/philstar

yeah..i agree with suarez..its d media man jud ang nagahatag negative impressions sa president ug iya mga programs. they keep on hitting on her. ok lng naman na they're helping people to be vigilant kaso most of the time iba ang dinideliver nla na news. espcially ang abs-cbn. they'r so bias..very obvious na anti. dapat nga they should be neutral. personally i think they'r part of the destabilization plot..they r abusing they're right & freedom of expression.

    Kadayawan fest: symbol of peace
    By Rizalene P. Acac
    August 18, 2008

THE BLAZE of the Kadayawan torch burned brightly at dusk yesterday as Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Vice Mayor Sara Duterte, councilors and private sector leaders symbolically opened the week-long 23rd Kadayawan Festival.
Indigenous musical instruments and dances were performed by the different tribes to lend mood to the celebration. Candidates of the Hiyas ng Kadayawan 2008 who will vie for the crown tomorrow were also presented to an impressive crowd of tourists and locals.
Despite the skirmishes in other parts of the island and the mayor’s initial misgivings on pushing through with the festival, Kadayawan this year could be bigger and brighter.
The Kadayawan celebration now takes on a higher meaning – it shows that harmony is possible in a multi-cultural and diverse society.
    Museo Dabawenyo
Museo Dabawenyo, a public museum that will serve as the repository of Davao’s heritage, was opened to the public yesterday.
Soledad “Nanay Soling” Roa-Duterte, mother of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who was instrumental in building the museum, said its thrust is to chronicle not only the events but also the prime movers of Davao.
Nanay Soling said the museum will present Davao starting with the tribes of the Mandayas and Kalagans, the first indigenous and Muslim inhabitants of the land and will be followed by the five episodes of the Davao-Spanish era; Davao-American era; Davao-Japanese era; Davao during the war, and; Davao after the war.
She said the concept also includes the transition of Davao from an undivided land until the time the three provinces were carved out of it.
“We should know where we really came from. I am already asking the mayors to submit their contributions here,” she added.
Nanay Soling said one of the very first who responded to her appeal was Compostela Valley province led by its governor Arturo Chiongkee-Uy. The province was the last of the three provinces that was carved out.
Patricia Melliza-Ruivivar, officer in-charge of the museum and the mayor’s chief-of-staff, said as a sign of their support, Compostela Valley agreed to place their solidarity ring here - a 1.5 kilo golden ring which costs P1.5 million.
“They are sharing their solidarity ring to show that they are once part of Davao,” she said adding that Kadayawan is the first festival outside of Compostela Valley where the ring was also unveiled.
The ring is so far the biggest golden ring in the entire country.
Ruivivar said the ring will stay at the museum during the whole duration of the festival.
Governor Uy said they acceded in temporarily placing their priced possession in Museo Dabawenyo just a week ago. He said officials from the city government of Davao saw the replica of the ring at the Agro-Trade Fair at SM grounds and invited them to also showcase the genuine one.
“It is an honor and an opportunity to unveil the solidarity ring in Davao City,” he said which he added would become bigger every three years as they convince more sponsors to donate for it.While the ring maybe the most expensive single item in the museum, there are other impressive collections.
It presently houses old and new paintings, artifacts, costumes and accessories which are distributed in the contemporary, memorabilia, and the indigenous peoples gallery.
The museum will also house the second edition of the picture collection of the Camera Club of Davao entitled Culture, Creativity and Diversity. with reports from Nef Luczon.

It was said that the owner of that restaurant buy fetuses which are aborted. The price differs from its freshness, wat I mean ung long time dead na fetus can be bought in a lower price.

Well personally, I don't really know if it's their tradition or not. But the fact that baby boy is preferable than baby girl and having that "one child poilcy" may affect the mentality of chinese people who happened to be the parents of those unwanted child, the aborted ones.

"Una sa lahat, gusto natin na malaman nila na they will always be in a worse situation whenever we are at war. We are pushing for peace because war would never lead anybody anywhere," pahayag ng opisyal sa panayam ng dzRB radio.

"Our Number 1 objective is to have peace. The government is sincere in achieving peace," ayon sa opisyal.

Tutol si Golez sa panawagan na all-out war sa MILF dahil ang deklarasyon umano ng digmaan ay parang pagputol lamang sa damo na patuloy din na lalago. - GMANews.TV
